Similarities Between Horror Movie Slashers

Comparing Horror Movie Killers: How Are Horror Movie Villains the Same and Different

There are so many horror movie slashers and so many different villains! These villains all make their mark differently, each killing with their own modified personality and weapon. However, despite how different they may be, there are also some serious similarities between the horror movie killers when it comes to the art of killing.  In fact, the Horror Enthusiast has identified a number of similarities between these killing masters which are undeniably inherent in almost all of the major horror movie slasher franchises.

Mostly we are talking about slashers here, such as Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elm Street), Jason Voorhees (Friday the Thirtieth), Michael Myers (Halloween), Chucky (Child’s Play), and Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

Similarity #1: Delayed Gratification

It is blatantly obvious that almost all horror movie villains are able to absolutely destroy their victims nearly immediately upon encountering them.  Still, the horror slashers seem to enjoy a good hunt and frequently allow their prey a few feet of a head start in order to prolong the kill!  This delayed gratification can last a few moments, or sometimes the duration of an entire movie (or longer)!

Similarity #2: Weapon Emphasis

Leatherface with a meat cleaver illlustration

Although some horror killers have been known to use their bare hands and other objects for their creative kill scenes, nearly all of the most notable horror franchises utilize one or a few select weapons. Many of the slashers prefer a weapon or two, in fact.  Freddy Krueger is prone to favor his razor finger glove. Jason Voorhees has used many weapons, but has the most kills with his famed machete. Michael Myers prefers his large kitchen knife. Leatherface tends to rely most heavily on his chainsaw, however, also enjoys the use of meathooks to retain his captured prey!

Similarity #3: Disguise or Mask or Grotesque Look

Horror movie slashers need to look as scary as possible, and normal looking humans are just not that scary.  Freddy Krueger is naturally burned, but looks like he has been spat out of hell itself.  Jason Voorhees hides behind a scary looking hockey mask.  Michael Myers has a mask that covers his entire head, a mask that almost speaks death.  Charles Lee Ray possesses the creepy Good Guy doll “Chucky.” And Leatherface wears masks created from the actual flesh of the faces of his victims. Having a bolstered, evil look is critical in creating a terrifying presence.

Similarity #4: Rejected by Society

Almost all of our favorite horror movie villains have been rejected by society in one fashion or another.  Freddy Krueger is a child murderer who was punished by his neighborhood peers after preying on their children.  Jason Voorhees was bullied due to his deformities and low IQ.  Michael Myers was deemed “unhuman” and sent to live in a psychiatric ward most of his life. Chucky is actually a desperate fugitive taking refuge within the doll to avoid his fate as a discovered serial killer. Leatherface is mentally challenged to the point his town pokes fun at his low intellect. In fact, rejection is an important fabric in developing a ruthless killer.

Similarity #5: Lurking in the Shadows

A really big part of horror is the unknown. From the slasher’s perspective, however, the victims are almost always known about ahead of time, at least a few moments from the kill.  Even the most disconnected killers (such as Jason Voorhees or Leatherface), stalk their prey for a short time before the victims become aware of the killer’s presence.  In fact, slashers like Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers are known to do a fair amount of stalking before they slit any flesh!

Similarity #6: Supernatural Powers

chucky supernatural powers

Despite the many forms horror movie slashes may come in, they almost always possess supernatural powers in the leading horror movie franchises.  Freddy Krueger is a dreamworld manipulator and demon-like soul harvester.  Jason Voorhees is literally brought back from the dead and given superhuman strength and is seemingly indestructible. Michael Myers is “pure evil,” as best put by Dr Loomis, and by no means a human being. Chucky is a possessed doll invoked through the use of ancient a voodoo ritual.

Similarity #7: Sympathetic Storyline

Ironically, all of the killers are humanized at one point or another in their horror movie killing career. This is probably done to create sympathy for the killer among the audience to increase brand loyalty…as the slashers themselves often become famed stars that drive the future success of the franchise.  Freddy Krueger is made up to be a victim, burned in a brutal boiler room fire without proper judicial process. Jason Voorhees is a mentally handicapped child who is drowned by cruel teenage peers. Michael Myers is psychologically damaged and constantly being locked up in a mental institute, ever since he were a child. Leatherface is mentally ill as well and only broke bad after he got fired from his job as a butcher, previously having no incidents of violence.  Even Chucky is humanized, at one point taking on a wife that matched his stature!

Similarity #8: Little to No Empathy

Although the directors and writers of many of these horror slasher franchises have invoked empathy for the killer at one point or another, the slasher almost never has any empathy for the victims.  There are a few scenes where some of the killers surprise us, however, typically they are ruthless and only interested in a gruesome death and/or possibly harvesting a soul!

Similarity #9: Relentless Pursuit

A good horror movie is built upon suspense. No matter how the suspense is built, it is a necessary trait to creating dopamine from fear. The audience must feel they are at risk themselves and remain on the edge of their seat throughout the entire film.  Most notable horror slashers are relentless and will pursue a victim as long as it takes, sometimes throughout the entire film!

Similarity #10: Impossible to Kill

freddy kreuger cant die

Although horror movie slashers are nearly always defeated towards the end of each film, they almost always come back…sometimes it is even hinted at the very end of the film itself!  Horror movie slashers are notoriously hard to kill…this is probably to increase the likelihood of the survival of the franchise.  Horror movie franchises typically rely upon the continuation of a killer’s rampage. After all, if the slasher’s victim count cannot increase, neither can the number of movies within the franchise!  Freddy Krueger very commonly was seen having the final upper hand within many of his movies.  Jason Voorhees has also come back several times in the final moments.  Michael Myers almost always escapes death somehow.  And we all know leatherface always has the last laugh (well, if he laughed anyway)!

How Are the Horror Movie Slashers Different?

As similar as these monsters and killers may be, each horror movie villain is different in their own way as well! Each character requires as much of a unique presence as can be mustered for the same genre…thus the characters are generally products of their environment with each movie changing the environment slightly.  Freddy Krueger’s grotesque look comes from the boiler room fire that killed him.  Leatherface is a deranged inbred, which is why he covers his face with the flesh of his victims.  Michael Myers is always wearing a jumpsuit after escaping mental institutions. Chucky is a doll that has been given to a child as a present.  Each killer is made to fit the environment by which it kills, and each environment is different.

Find out who has the most kills of this group of horror monsters.

Interesting Facts About Jason Voorhees & F13 (Friday the 13th Movie Fun Facts)

Behind the Scenes: The Making of the Friday the 13th Franchise

Everyone knows the iconic sound of the chilling “Jason is coming” tune throughout the Friday the 13th.  This horror is repeated millions of times every day throughout the world…”Chi Chi Chi….Ka-Ka-Ka!” Where did the Friday the 13th franchise get it’s scariness? How did Jason Voorhees develop into the feared slasher that he is known as today?  Horror Enthusiast hid under a couple of cabins, crawling around Crystal Lake to get some answers! Enjoy some of the most interesting and viscous Friday the 13th Fun facts and trivia!

Interesting Facts and Trivia in the Making of the Friday the 13th Movies

Inspiration for the Famous Musical Prelude

The famous musical prelude of a Jason kill, his “Chi Chi Chi…Ka-Ka-Ka” tune was composed by Harry Manfredini.  This piece was created to resemble a voice of a child (presumably a younger Jason Voorhees) speaking to his mother, who is technically the killer in the first movie.  The voice is supposedly trying to say “Kill Kill Kill…Ma Ma Ma,” in an effort to encourage her revenge-inspired murders.

Characters Named After Video Game Users

The tenth film in the franchise, Jason X (2001), features  characters that were named after writer Todd Farmer’s friends.  These friends being people who played the video game EverQuest (released in 1999) with him.

Jason’s Highest Kill Count (for one movie)

Jason X (2001), also known as “Jason in Space” to many (rather disgusted) horror fans, features a super deadly Jason.  He claims 28 victims in this one single film, making it the highest kill count movie for Jason Voorhees, of all time.

Fake Props Cause Real Stir

Movies frequently use fake props in place of real objects and products in order to save money.  Many fake props get mistaken for real items during production and can create a bit of a ruckus.  While filming the second movie in the franchise, Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), a fake telephone booth was a regular set highlight.  People would try to use this booth on a regular basis only to storm off angrily when it would not work, leaving the crew and cast bursting in laughter.

A Transferred Franchise

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) was the first film in the franchise to be produced by New Line Cinema.  Up until then, Paramount had been at the reins, all the way back to the original movie in 1980.

Many Filming Locations

Camp Crystal Lake is much bigger than anticipated! It turns out that the Friday the 13th franchise has been filmed in a number of places. While about half of the films were produced in California, the franchise has also seen movies shot in: Alabama, Georgia, Connecticut, Ontario, Texas and New Jersey (the original movie).

Sally Field

Sally Field almost played “Alice” in the original Friday the 13th movie. Instead, Adrienne King took the part (and did a fantastic job)!

Jason’s Highest Grossing Film

Jason always put on a good show, however, his best earnings were raked in during Freddy vs Jason (2003), in which he faces off against another horror slasher favorite, Freddy Krueger.  Strangely enough, this is also the case for Freddy. In fact, it turns out the two franchises are very close in total earnings. The Friday the 13th franchise has earned a total of more than $380 million, while the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise ranks a little over $370 million!  And still, the first film was still a strongly profitable venture, especially considering the shoestring budget!

Residual Involvement

The original movie’s write and director, Sean S Cunningham, helped pave the way for the franchise to grow into what it is today.  He produced a number of the films himself and helped produce all of the rest of the films as well by way of his production company, Sean S Cunningham Films.

Kevin Bacon’s Break Out Role

Although Kevin Bacon had a little experience before Friday the 13th, it was one of his first lead roles paving way for the successful career he has since enjoyed.

Freddy AND Jason?

Freddy vs Jason (2003) linked the two killers in the present alone, not providing any history of any substance between the characters.  Through a number of leaks, however, it has been suggested that there was talk of a backstory in some versions of the script which would have linked the two killers via a little history. One noted suggestion was that Freddy could have been a counselor at Camp Crystal lake, who at one point molested Jason before his real-life drowning.

They probably steered around such a plot to associating Freddy Krueger fans with pedophiles…as the entire promotion of the film seemed to encourage fans to ‘choose a side.’ And ultimately, who would want to side with a pedophile?

Freedom of Creativity

The Friday the 13th franchise was great for giving a lot of directors the ability to both write and direct a movie.  Sean S Cunningham (Friday the 13th, 1980), Tom McLoughlin (Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI, 1986), Rob Hedden (Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, 1989) and Adam Marcus (Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, 1993), all get to experience this freedom in creativity!

Final Words About the Making of the Friday the 13th Franchise

Painting of boat scene from Friday the 13th horror movie

Friday the 13th is one of the oldest of the horror movie slasher franchises. Jason and the Friday the 13th franchise has helped defined the scares and fear experienced throughout the entire horror genre altogether.  Like many of the other killers, Jason was able to secure notoriety based upon two key elements: a mask and a weapon. The creators of the franchise, however, have secured notoriety based upon their ability to scare the living hell out of audiences for decades! Thus, Jason Voorhees will live on through the movies he’s made, and the movies to come…for any time they tell us there will never be another Friday the 13th, we find Jason slashing a few years later again!

When Were the Friday the 13th Movies Released?

The movie title “Friday the 13th” would lead fans to believe all of the movies were released on Friday the 13th itself. The truth, however, is that the movies would be released as it were most profitable for the film makers and theaters playing the films.  It does appear that they attempted to get it close, however, the true release dates of the Friday the 13th movies will surprise many fans.  Additionally, the plot of the films seem to draw very little connection to the ‘unlucky’ day, Friday the 13th. Still, Horror Enthusiast mapped out the release dates in order to draw a fair conclusion.

List of Friday the 13th Movie Release Dates

It is interesting that the Friday the 13th movies were not released on Friday the 13th. Here is a full list of the release dates of all Friday the 13th movies.

  • Friday the 13th (1980) was released on May 9th. While it was a Friday, it was not the 13th.
  • Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) was released on May 1st. This was a Friday, but not the 13th.
  • Friday the 13th Part III (1982) was released on August 13th, the first movie to be released on an actual Friday the 13th.
  • Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) was released on April 13th, the second movie in the franchise to snag an authentic Friday the 13th release date.
  • Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985) was released on March 22nd, which was a Friday, but not the 13th.
  • Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) was released on August 1st. Again, they secured a Friday but not a 13th.
  • Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988) released on May 13th, a Friday, securing the third movie in the franchise with a genuine Friday the 13th release date.
  • Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) was released on July 28th, a Friday but not the 13th.
  • Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) got released on August 13th, a Friday and a 13th. This becomes the 4th movie in the franchise to have an authentic Friday the 13th release date.
  • Jason X (2001), aka “Jason in Space,” was released on April 26, which may have been a Friday, but was most certainly not a 13th.
  • Freddy vs Jason (2003) opened on August 15th, a Friday but again, not a 13th.
  • Friday the 13th (2009), the latest in the franchise, released on February the 13th. This movie locks in the 5th movie with an official Friday the 13th release date.

Last Notes About the Friday the 13th Release Dates

In the end, they got the release date right 5 times out of 12 movies.  That’s not that bad considering there are very few Friday the 13th dates each year (if more than one at all). The movies themselves are not very much so based on the date. And it has even been speculated that the movie title was chosen as a way to capitalize on Halloween’s success. Still, however, the Friday the 13th movies do quite well and wind up getting played across tons of TV networks and movie screens on Friday the 13th itself!

What Personality Type is Jason Voorhees [Myers-Briggs Personality Type]

Categories
Scary Movies and Series

Analyzing the Personality of Friday the 13th Slasher Jason

Friday the 13th is a staple in the slasher horror genre…and Jason is one of the best killing machines there is!  However, despite many attempts at understanding the silent, hockey-mask wearing killer, the body count continues to rise!  Horror Enthusiast has been able to break down the most critical characteristics and traits which make up Jason’s Myers-Briggs personality type after all!

What Myers-Briggs Personality Type Would Jason Voorhees Have?

Jason Voorhees is a INT-J Myers-Briggs personality type.

Jason Voorhees is not that complicated of a killer if one is provided enough background information.  Still, his undeniably strong personality traits are what contribute to his suspected personality type.

Hates Other People

Besides his mother, Jason hates just about everyone else.  This is probably due to his natural deformities making him a prime target for harassment as a child. He is eventually drowned at camp by unsupervised bullies.  Overall, his hatred of other people easily qualifies him as an “I” Introversion personality rank.

Thrives On His Own

Many killers have required assistance from others in order to achieve their goals, be it creatures, supernatural entities, or their family members.  Truthfully, Jason handles everything himself and pretty much thrives being alone!  This extreme success from being so independent also qualifies a ranking of “I” Introversion.

Convoluted Ambition

Jason loves to kill but sometimes loses track of his target in exchange for something more interesting, or exploring a new possibility. He often has hazy recollections of his past which fuel his killing ambition, but his big picture is always the same: get them back for what they have done; and the facts and subsidiaries that make up the big picture take a backseat to his slaughter fest. This convoluted ambition scores Jason a “N” Intuition personality ranking.

Loves His Mother

Jason’s mother is dead for most of the movies, and all of the movies which feature Jason as a horror killer. He still remembers his mother, hears his mother’s voice and listens to his mother to hack and slash victim after victim.  He is so trusting in the symbol that is his mother from beyond the grave, that it contributes to a personality ranking of “N” Intuition.

Methodical Killing

Jason is methodical in his killings, slashing victim after victim, one by one, as quickly as possible. This systematic approach to slaughtering campers has given Jason more kills than any other horror movie killer to date. It also makes him more of a “T” Thinker than a feeler!

A Just Killer

Drawing of Jason from Friday the 13th horror movie in his hockey mask

Due to the fact that Jason was a victim of brutal bullying himself, the audience naturally has sympathy for Jason.  Jason, as well, kills only because he and his mother believe the killings are just.  After all, the camp counselors and other kids were all negligent bullies…so it is easier to condemn their behavior. The fact that he does not kill purely for sport, makes him a reasoning, logical killer (despite his low IQ), and thus he scores more firmly as a “T” Thinker.

Never Procrastinates

Jason is not a procrastinator, and ensures all of his victims are slain as promptly as possible throughout all of his films.  The chases are usually brief and many times the deaths are sudden.  Jason is considered task-oriented due to his ability to follow instructions from his mother (or Freddy Krueger) so precisely!  His well-rounded reliability as a killer ranks him a strong “J” Judging personality.

Tunnel Vision

Unfortunately for Jason, he can become so obsessed with a harder-to-kill survivor, that he becomes a little reckless and sometimes misses new information.  In fact, this is what usually leads to his capture, death or dismembering.  It is also what secures his ranking as a “J” Judging personality.

Final Mental Health Notes on Jason Voorhees

Jason is a reliable, punctual, methodical horror movie slasher who will rank INT-J every time. And his killings are far more horrifying after understanding the “just” psychology behind them, and his procedural format for ripping through his victims. Regardless, no matter how little Jason may talk or what his personality type may indicate, a lot of times, his machete speaks on his behalf!

Which Horror Movie Killer Would Win?

Categories
Scary Movies and Series

Pitting Horror Movie Killers and Slashers Against Each Other

The age old questions of which horror movie slasher is strongest, most powerful, most dangerous or would win in a fight, has been haunting us for decades! And almost all of the horror fans out there expected to see a clear winner in Freddy vs Jason (2003); Thus a great void was left in the “who would win” what-if scenario between the two horror villain giants.  And people are now wondering more than ever who would win a number of other Slasher vs Slasher fights.  Horror Enthusiast has stepped up to the plate, pitting a number of villains against one another and drawing a conclusion as to the outcome and winner of each fight!

Fictional Horror Movie Killer Fights (Who Would Win)

Without further ado, these fictional horror movie killer ‘one on ones’ will draw the line on who would have won after all in a fight!

Freddy Krueger vs Michael Myers

Michael Myers has been a torment to survivors on many of the halloweens throughout the past few decades. Freddy Krueger has been active throughout various times of the year, but enjoys raising hell when school is in…thus, it is logical that the two horror movie slashers would meet up at one point or another!  If Freddy Krueger ran across Michael one Halloween, he would probably put Michael into a sleep-induced Haddonfield killing-spree coma, while he were buried alive.

Winner: Freddy Krueger

Method: Asphyxiation and Sleep-induced Coma

Leatherface vs Michael Myers

michael myers vs leatherface killer

Michael Myers keeps coming back from the dead and has been a demonic nightmare ever since the late 70s. However, Leatherface has also been killing since the 70s and may be the largest opponent Michael Myers has ever faced.  While this would be a close fight, the deciding factor came down to the ability to sustain blows.  Michael’s first blow would probably not be able to kill Leatherface, no matter how grim the wound.  Leatherface, however, is capable of literally chopping off limbs and cutting Michael’s body in half, with just one swing of his chainsaw.

Winner: Leatherface

Method: Body Dismemberment and Cut In Half

Pinhead vs Michael Myers

Michael Myers began life as a mortal human being, unlike Pinhead, who is a demon and supernatural by nature.  Myers received his supernatural developments throughout time, and unfortunately stands a serious handicap in the respect of actual power.  However, if he had a fair shot, he would probably at least look pretty while Pinhead tore him to pieces, literally!

Winner: Pinhead

Method: Detainment and Dismemberment

Leatherface vs Jason Voorhees

Leatherface is one bad mamba jamba, and has been taking out travelers for decades. Jason Voorhees, however, quite literally cannot die in a mortal sense.  Additionally, Jason can sustain unimaginable blows and still continue to hack and slash, showing no signs of slowing down.  Leatherface has been seen vulnerable on a number of occasions, leaving him writhing in pain after a survivor successfully lashes back.  Leatherface would meet his doom if encountering Jason in a one on one fight…even with his chainsaw!

Winner: Jason Voorhees

Method: Macheted In Half

Pinhead vs Jason Voorhees

jason vs pinhead winner

Jason Voorhees has been brought back from the dead after being spat out of hell. Pinhead is no longer human, just like Jason, however, he exists in an extradimensional realm only to travel to Earth to harvest souls. While the two characters share a lot in common (Jason only returns to Earth to murder and wreak havoc), Jason would be unable to overcome the impressive use of demonic magic that would be present within the fight.

Winner: Pinhead

Method: Detainment and Dismemberment

Chucky vs Michael Myers

Michael Myers stalks his victims and has a good chance of sneaking up on Chucky…however, Chucky is no stranger to deception himself.  Michael has killed a few victims based upon his strength, however, he is mostly known for his ability to kill with a blade. Chucky, being an inanimate doll, would likely be able to survive one or two slashes from Michael’s blade in order to outsmart him.  Given Michael is significantly lacking in the intelligence department, he would probably fall victim to a larger plot pre-planned by Chucky (probably using objects much larger than himself).

Winner: Chucky

Method: Trapping and Smashing Michael Between Two Heavy Objects

Freddy Krueger vs Chucky

chucky vs freddy drawing

Chucky may be practically invulnerable to a mortal human being, however, when subject to the dreamworld, he would be much more vulnerable.  Freddy is able to manipulate dreams and would most likely destroy Chucky by way of extreme explosion while he slept, scattering all of his pieces and stuffings throughout the dreamworld. Remember: “If you die in your dreams you die for real!”

Winner: Freddy Krueger

Method: Extreme Explosive Dismemberment

Leatherface vs Pinhead

Leatherface is rash and impulsive, thus his demise versus a telekinetic and supernatural power-harnessing demon from another dimension (such as Pinhead) would be rather quick!  Most likely, Leatherface would rush towards his opponent, only to be controlled by telekinesis and quickly facing his own chainsaw in the chest!

Winner: Pinhead

Method: Telekinetic Manipulation of a Chainsaw to the Gut

Freddy Krueger vs Leatherface

Leatherface may be muscular, fast and brutal, but he is no match for falling asleep and dying in his dreams.  Leatherface would likely be terrorized by confusion, as he is the least smartest of the horror movie slashers. When he awoke, it would probably be to the feeling of a chainsaw working its way through his chest somehow, or being impaled on a meat hook.

Winner: Freddy Krueger

Method: Impaled by a Running Chainsaw / Impaled on a Meat Hook

Jason Voorhees vs Chucky

Although Jason may be a little dumb, Chucky’s ability to outwit him may be nullified by Jason’s slower, unpredictable movements. Jason stands a chance at catching Chucky due to his slower movement increasing the likelihood of Chucky growing frustrated and getting too close to the slashing giant.  With Jason’s strength, it would not even require a machete!

Winner: Jason Voorhees

Method: Beheading and Crushing of the Doll’s Skull

Freddy Krueger vs Pinhead

The only killer with the ability to set up Freddy with a life sentence of psychological torture, or torture of any means, is Pinhead. Pinhead is a powerful demon capable of traveling between dimensions and manipulating reality.  Freddy lacks the ability to actually read minds and can only manipulate reality in the dreamworld. Does Pinhead even sleep?  In a fight, Freddy would only be able to resort to his agile martial-arts like movements focusing primarily on his claw-weapon.  This would make him no greater contest than a black belt in karate with a sword.*

*Though Freddy has been seen manipulating reality (telekinesis primarily) in the real-world…he is ultimately powerless against Pinheads ability to cause any object, including ones he would be controlling, to spontaneously combust.  Additionally, Pinhead can conjure any object out of thin air.

Winner: Pinhead

Method: Detainment and Psychological Torment For The Rest Of Time

Leatherface vs Chucky

Most victims run from Leatherface. Most of the other killers would stand up to fight Leatherface. Chucky, however, would hide to fight Leatherface. Chucky is a pretty smart doll, and being that he is really small and Leatherface is rather large and less flexible, Leatherface would have a hard time catching Chucky to inflict any damage. Chucky, on the other hand, is quite crafty and a very clever slasher. Before Leatherface had any idea what hit him, he’d be tumbling into a human-sized meat grinder.

Winner: Chucky

Method: Falling Into an Industrial Size Meat Grinder (or Wood Chipper of Sorts)

Pinhead vs Chucky

pinhead drawing

Unfortunately, Chucky faces the same problems as Michael Myers when it comes to Pinhead: Pinhead is a supreme supernaturally powerful demon and Chucky is a normal human being with a curse.  Chucky is also limited to human-capable methods of murder, such as death by knife…whereas Pinhead has the ability to create and manipulate the world with magic.

Winner: Pinhead

Method: Detainment and Dismemberment

Anyone vs Ghostface

Unfortunately for Ghostface, ridiculous teenagers with knives do not stand chances against real horror movie slashers (no offense Ghostface and Scream crowd).  While Ghostface may seriously tear through some victims on screen, he is most definitely the least likely to win out of all of the horror slashers when pit against any of them.

Winner: Anyone other than Ghostface

Method: Nearly Any Weapon Would Do

Freddy Krueger vs Jason Voorhees [real fight]

Horror Enthusiast disagrees with the result of Freddy vs Jason (2003) and thus has redrawn the scenario, as a proper horror fanatic would.  Freddy wins. Jason dies.  The end.

Winner: Freddy Krueger

Method: Drowning and Sleep-induced Coma

Final Notes About Which Killer Would Win

Pinhead is the clear overall winner, being able to detain and or destroy any of the other horror movie killers. However, Freddy Krueger is a close second, as his demon-like manipulation techniques are simply too powerful for any other slasher to overcome.  In a few scenarios, Freddy may even have a chance to take Pinhead out for good…though, highly unlikely! Chucky receives an honorable mention for his ability to take down some of the much larger giants despite his small size.

Although the fights are between killers who have franchises and are well known for their scary death counts, we realize we have not included all noteworthy horror slashers. If you would like to see how your killer of choice (or anyone we have left out) stacks up against the rest, leave a comment below!
